ACCESSIBLE DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK 2019

In 2017, Calgary Ability Network (CAN) and Voices of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD) began an annual accessible driver appreciation event to acknowledge those who help people with disabilities get where they need to go. This annual event now happens the second week of every November.

Please let the people who drive and schedule accessible transportation know they are appreciated. It is through their daily work that many people get to live, work and play in our communities.

Alberta government promises $9.5 million for continued low-income transit pass funding

Alberta’s Community and Social Services Minister Rajan Sawhney confirmed the budget commitment to Star Edmonton this week.

“We are extending that program,” Sawhney said. “We’ve heard from a lot of different folks as to how important it is, from seniors, from the municipalities, from the mayors themselves, and absolutely, it’s the right thing to do.”
