ACCESSIBLE DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK 2019

In 2017, Calgary Ability Network (CAN) and Voices of Albertans with Disabilities (VAD) began an annual accessible driver appreciation event to acknowledge those who help people with disabilities get where they need to go. This annual event now happens the second week of every November.

Please let the people who drive and schedule accessible transportation know they are appreciated. It is through their daily work that many people get to live, work and play in our communities.

                                Accessible Driver Appreciation Week
Accessible Driver Appreciation Week is an initiative of the CAN Transportation table and Voice of Albertans with Disabilities. We believe it is important to acknowledge and celebrate all those involved in delivering accessible transportation services in our city.

Why celebrate Accessible Driver Appreciation Day?
Accessible Driver Appreciation Week aims to bring awareness to the need for, and appreciation of, Accessible Transportation Services and those who provide them.

Who can participate in Accessible Driver Appreciation Week?
Anyone! Whether you're a user of Accessible Transportation Services, or an organization/business that often works with Accessible Transportation drivers, we encourage you to show your appreciation during this week.

How can you get involved?
Our one and only ask is for participation! We want to help each individual, group or organization personalize their own celebration. Here are some ideas of how you can show your appreciation:
  • Give your driver a Thank-You card and encourage users of Accessible Transportation Services to do the same
  • Provide coffee and muffins to your drivers
  • Launch a social media campaign to thank Accessible Transportation Drivers
  • Do you access City of Calgary services? Call 311 with your compliments or suggestions to improve Accessible Transportation Services.

We want to help you make this day a success. Let us know your ideas for celebrating the day!
